This book extremely popular book in our house! The facts are funny and outrageous and the kids love to read them out loud to anyone willing to listen. Because of it’s size (light weight and paperback) it’s very portable and easy for kids to carry around. We like to bring it in the car and take turns sharing the fun facts with one another.

We’ve done a lot of experiments from this book. The experiments are straightforward, easy to do and the instructions are very clear. We also enjoy the little extra touches like fun facts, science themed jokes and follow-up experiment suggestions that are sprinkled throughout the book. The only downside is that the images are drawings and not pictures of the actual experiment being performed.

This was the very first science experiment book that we ever purchased and it’s been well used over the years. The book contains over 40 experiments which can be performed with common household items. It has color pictures of each experiment and a helpful supplies list so you can quickly gather the items needed.

This is another one of our favorite science fun fact books. The book is written by National Geographic which means the pictures that accompany the facts are very impressive. It’s a large hard cover book that is extremely high quality. However, the size does make it less convenient to carry around.
101 Great Science Experiments – Buy it Here
This is a great experiment book because it contains pictures for each of the steps of the experiment (or at least the majority of the steps). The pictures make it really easy to follow along when performing the experiment at home. It truly is a nice visual step-by-step guide and we’ve done many of the experiments from this book as well.
Time for Kids Big Book of Science Experiments: A Step-by-Step Guide – Buy it Now
Another book with detailed steps for science experiments. It’s light weight and portable and the steps are easy to follow. We also enjoy the extra information and educational details provided about each experiment. The images are drawings (in color) and not pictures of the actual experiment being performed.
SPACE: A Visual Encyclopedia – Buy It Here
One year for my son’s birthday, his aunt took him to the bookstore to pick out a new book. This is the book he choose and it’s easy to see why. The pictures are amazing and it’s filled with a wealth of information. We have the hardcover version of the book and it’s a great quality book, the only downfall is the size does make it difficult for a child to carry around. There are also paperback formats available.
SCIENCE: A Visual Encyclopedia – Buy It Here
After really enjoying SPACE: A Visual Encyclopedia, we decided to get this book. The format and quality are similar to the Space book, but it covers a wider variety of scientific topics. It’s another great book for kids to learn about science and the world around them.

This is such a great science experiment book. The experiments are simple, fun and educational. In addition to listing the materials needed and steps for each experiment, it also contains a handful of questions for each experiment and some additional things to try after you’ve completed the initial experiment. The pictures in the book are really high quality as well.

This is another great science experiment book. Each experiment clearly lists that items needed (and most are common household items), easy to follow steps, tips and pictures. We found a number of experiments in this book that weren’t in other science experiment books.
The Science Book: Everything You Need to Know about the World and How it Works – Buy It Here
This is a great book for older children (10+) that enjoy learning about a variety of scientific topics. The images, illustrations and graphics help make the topics easier to understand. Note that it is large and heavy (much like a high school/college textbook) so it is not easily portable.
National Geographic Kids Everything Weather – Buy It Here
We love the National Geographic books because the fun facts and amazing pictures are presented in an engaging and easy to read format for kids. Weather is a fascinating topic and this book is both fun and educational.
